Green living
I just read an article that came out on Ap. 20th in the NYT titled 'The way we live now: why bother' by Michael Pollan. It was really a downer for the most part, but realistic and then he followed up with the benefit of gardening and made great points about it. I didn't see any blog or I would've gone onto it.
Then I looked at this blog and read farfaraways garden weekend sucess and am inspired again in spite of the really cold, snowy, sleety weather we've had all weekend. My tomatoes are 5" tall now and getting their first set of true leaves. Other things are still sprouting and I need to get the spring crop of lettuce in the ground as soon as this cold snap passes. I've promised Ken seeds and haven't given them to him yet because I haven't finished planting mine (too cold). My 'on the spot composting' seems to be doing the trick for the worms and yesterday we found a nest of bullsnakes near the garden. Hopefully they'll survive the cold, the cats and the dog.
